Description

Embroidery Silk / Wool Dispenser This invention relates to an embroidery silk or wool dispenser.

Embroidery silks and wools are normally supplied in skeins of eight metres length, folded and secured by two paper bands. One band bears the colour number and the other carries the manufacturers symbol.

When the skeins are in use the individual strands tend to tangle and knot and pull out of the paper bands, and as the skein is used up the problems become worse resulting in possible loss of the labels.

According to the present invention the skeins of silk or wool are divided into easily managed lengths and are arranged in a folding wallet with the aid of a simple tool. The original paper band bearing the colour number is retained in a secure position.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure I shows in plan and cross - section a part of the dispenser with one skein in position.

Figure 2 shows the simple threading tool used to arrange the skeins.

Referring to the drawing there is provided a length of canvas capable of holding a number of full skeins of embroidery silks or wools, item I.

The canvas is provided with a row of ribbon loops, item 2, and two rows of elastic loops, items 3 and 4.

The silks or wools are wound around a card 23 cm wide and cut along one edge to form 46 cm lengths.

The cut lengths, item 6, are doubled and threaded through the elastic loop item 4, through the manufacturers number band item 5, through a second elastic loop item 3, under the top ribbon item 2 and back under elastic loop item 3.

A simple threading device item 7 is provided to carry out the threading operation, having a short silk loop attached to one end, item 8. The short silk loop is looped round the doubled end of the silk or wool length item 6.

The silk or wool strands are now available for use and can be withdrawn one by one as required, leaving the number band intact until the last strand has been used.

   I An embroidery silk dispenser which enables skeins or hanks of embroidery silk to be arranged in easily manageable strands while retaining the original manufacturers colour number band.
2. 2 An embroidery wool dispenser which enables skeins or hanks of embroidery wool to be arranged in easily manageable strands while retaining the original manufacturers colour number band.
3. 3 An embroidery silk / wool dispenser as claimed in claim I and 2 and capable of holding a number ofl,different skeins of silk or wool.
