Abstract

Operating doors by treadle, and lever and link mechanism.- The door or doors, or pivoted bucket segments 8, 9 of an overhead travelling skip are operated by a lever or other member 17 held in the closing position by a catch 23. The bucket segments 8, 9 are pivoted at 10. 11 in a frame 1 - - 7, and tend to open by gravity. They are closed, when the lever 17 is depressed by engagement with a fixed cam-rail 19, by linkage 12 - - 17 which includes a cross-bar 14 sliding in guides in the frame. A roller 22 on the frame engages the rail to prevent swinging. The catch 23 is pivoted at 24 on the frame and is moved into the locking position when the bucket segments are closed, by means of a connection 27 with the cross-bar 14. An arm 29 on the catch 23 may engage a fixed abutment 30 near the track, permitting the skip to discharge automatically.
