Abstract

223,023. Johnson, B. Sept. 4,1923. Aeroplanes; propelling; steering; land wheels. -A combined aeroplane and motor-cycle comprises, in combination, a complete motor-cycle, an aeroplane body 16, partially enclosing the frame of the cycle, and including a drivers pit 17, vertical and horizontal stablizing fins 21 at the rear, a rudder 22 connected by links to a cross-bar associated with the handle bars, planes arranged in advance of the driver's seat and pivoted as a unit to the body or frame, a lever 28 for controlling the angular position of the planes and a propeller 35. The propeller is carried by a shaft 34, Fig. 2, enclosed in a tube 33 and driven from the motor by an oblique shaft 38 and bevel gearing.
