Abstract

Vibration - dampers.- In vehicle shock - absorbers of the kind in which two pivoted arms are provided with discs between which friction members are interposed and in which the friction increases in proportion to the angular displacement of the arms, the friction members are discs having the form of complementary wedges which are continuously forced towards each other without an air gap between. Two discs 1, 2 having arms 1<a>, 2a are pivoted on a bolt 6 and are pressed together by a spring 9. Interposed between the discs are friction discs 3, 4 of the shape shown having a metal washer 5 between them, the friction discs being constrained to rotate with their respective discs. Lubrication apertures are provided. The bolt aperture is of the shape shown to allow angular displacements of the discs. Fig. 4 shows the shock absorber mounted in position, the ends of the arms 1<a>, 2a being adapted to be rotatable about two axes at right angles to one another.
