Fibrous plastic compositions; porous compositions.-A porous composition suitable for the manufacture of cooling safes and the like consists of plaster of Paris, asbestos, and wood charcoal, with or without hardening compounds. 1 ton of plaster of Paris, 225 lbs. of charcoal, 52¢ lbs of calcined asbestos, and 24 lbs. of boric acid are mixed and gauged with 160 gals. of water to which has been added 4lbs. of 0.880 ammonia, and the paste is moulded into sheets, bottles, &c.
