Abstract

220,048. Bourne, W. May 4, 1923. Shaving - appliances. - A lathering device for use in shaving comprises a hollow rubber or like compressible holder a having an ivory or other smooth spreader-face b which is dipped into water and rubbed over the face after it has been smeared with soap. On squeezing the holder b, air currents are emitted from the orifice b<1> to form a lather, and on releasing the pressure, air is drawn in through the valve a<1>. In a modification, a hollow tube is fitted within the holder communicating with the spreader-face, and a soapstick is provided which can be advanced to touch the face or withdraw within the tube by turning a milled head provided at the back of the holder.
