Abstract

A female connector (4) has openings (7) in the vicinity of female contacts (6) to allow tilting of male blades (2) or pins when they are mated, and thereby minimise damage on mating. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Connector Background of invention This connector of the invention can be used broadly for audio equipments, amplifiers, tuners, receivers, CD players or VTRs and such to which a front panel plate is mounted at right angles.
In conventional female connector portions, as shown in a utility model examined publication of Japan No.55-11085, a conductor part 6 is laid under an insulation part 5.
In the prior art disclosed above, connectors could be drawn out in only one direction when removing, so there was no problem that connectors to be mounted to the front panel suffered damage in inserting or drawing operation.
Summary of the invention It is an object ofthe invention to provide a connec tor that broadens the range of direction of inserting or removing.
These and other objects and many ofthe attendant advantages ofthis invention will be readily appreciated as the same becomes better understood by refer encetothefollowing detailed description when considered in connection with the accompanying drawing.
Drawings Figure lisa stereoscopic view showing a connector of an embodiment of the present invention; Figure 2 is aviewshowing the state of connecting male contact pins with female contact arms; Figure3 is a sectional view showing an equipment provided with a connector of the invention; Figure 4 is a sectional view of the state of inserting or removing a male contact pins from a female contact arms; and Figure5isa sideview showing the rangeforcon- necting male contact pins to female contact arms.
Description ofpreferred embodiments Explanation, hereinafter, is made on an embodiment of the present invention with reference to Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3, Figure4and Figure 5.
Figure 1 shows a stereoscopic view showing a connector ofthe invention, in which the numeral 1 indicates a male connector portion consisting ofterminals 3 to be inserted into and soldered to a vertical plate 11 so that the part ofterminals are buried into the insulator body of synthetic resins with exposed part and male contact pins 4to be connected to the partner of a female connector portions connected with the terminals.
On the side of the female connector portion, connecting bars 5, terminals 8 and femal contact arms 6 are united.
As a result, one end of connecting bars 5 buried partly into the insulator body of synthetic resins is connected with terminals 8 to be soldered into a horizontal plate, and the other end is connected with female connector arms 6 to which the male contact pins 2 of the male connector portion 1 are inserted by pressing.
Figure 2 shows a view showing the state of connecting female contact arms 6 with male contact pins 2, in which the female contact arms 6 press the pin thickness part ofthe male contact pins in both side directions.
Figure 3 shows a view showing a connector of the invention, which is mounted to an equipment.
In Figure 3, the numeral 9 indicates an operating panel ofthe equipment, the numeral 13 indicates a operating knob, the numeral 11 indicates a vertical panel fixed to the front panel 9 by a screw 14for mounting the male connector portion and soldering the operating knob 13. On the other hand, a horizontal plate 12 is fixed to a chassis 10 and the female connector portion 4 is fixed to the horizontal plate 12.
Figure 4 shows a view showing the relationship between the male connector pins Q and the female connector arms 6 in the time of inserting or removing the male connector portion 1 into or from the female connector portion 4.
In Figure 3 and Figure 4, when repairing, it is a great convenient method to insert or remove the connector portions in the state that a vertical plate 11 and a front panel 9 are fixed by a screw 14.
In this case, the male contact pins 2 can be inserted or removed through the openings ofthe female connector portion 4when inserting or removing in the range from the horizontal direction H to the direction ofPchanged byan angleofodegrees.
Accordingly, to perform inserting or removing within the angle of 0' indicated byH'-P as well asthe angle of 0 indicated by H-Pshown in the invention, it is necessary to provide openings in the side opposed to said openings.
In this invention the relative out of position between the vertical plate 11 and the horizontal plate 12 arises in case of suffering a certain vibration produced by an exteriorforce after the male contact pins 2 and the female contact arms are connected because the openings are provided in the end ofthefemale contact arms, so there is a possibility that connecting condition does not keep remaining.
To prevent the phenomenon, as shown in Figure 5, the overcoming is performed by simply mounting a restricting wall 1 for restricting the travel amount of the male connector portion 4 on the side opposite to the openings.
Namely, by providing the restricting wall so as to set the relationship between the restricting wall 15 and one end b ofthe female connector portion to B > b, opposing to the contact width B between the male contact pins 2 and the female contact arms 6, the male contact pins 2 and the female contact arms 6 keep connecting continually.
Also, in case that openings are provided in the both sides of the male contact pins 2 and the female contact arms 6, a restricting wall 15' should be provided so as to correspond the each of openings to enable continuity ofthe connection.
According to the present invention, exteriorforces are not added too much to a female connector portion because of inserting or removing a male connector portion into orfrom a female connector portion within the range of an angle of 0 in the direction of inserting or removing.
Therefore, there is no damage adding to the female connector portion.
