218,360. Fitzsimons, T. F. March 22, 1923. Superheating-chambers heated by combustion gases. - The boiler, feedheater or other unit of a locomotive or the like is so supported in an outer shell that the unit may be readily slid into and out of position within the shell. A superheater may be slidably mounted within a boiler flue. A superheater 38 is placed in a large flue 40 in the boiler and is removably supported upon side rails. A large flue 48 in the feed-heater 6 allows the superheater to be removed through the fire-box without moving the feedheater. The superheater consists of a drum, traversed by smoke-tubes and fitted with plates directing the steam in a circuitous course. The fire-box end of the superheater is protected by a chamber 51 through which water is circulated.
