Description

SPECIFICATION Liquid beater for household mixers This invention relates to a rapid beater for liquids in a household mixer and the like.
Small electrical household apparatus for family use or use in small communities are known. Such an apparatus usually comprises a drive unit, a removable container for containing the products to be treated, which may or may not be provided with a cover, and a tool which is rotated in the products. Such electrical household apparatus, which in most common types are called "food processors", have a motor arranged coaxially with and below the container, or laterally thereof with a belt transmission, and permit, by replacing the tools and changing the operating speed, various operations such as pulverizing, cutting, grinding, kneading, mixing and so forth to be carried out. However, one of the operations required by the user, which is often not efficiently carried out, is the beating of more or less viscous liquids (by "beating" is meant the operation of incorporating air into the product, for example to obtain whipped whites of eggs, shakes or whipped butter).
In fact the tools used at present for beating, which range from small cutters in the form of small upturned mushrooms to variously shaped whippers, not only do not normally provide satisfactory results from the organoleptic point of view of the treated product but also require extremely long times of processing (over two minutes).
It is therefore an object of the present invention to eliminate the disadvantages of the known beaters and to provide a beater which provides completely satisfactory results from the organoleptic point of view within an extremely short time.
Another object of the present invention is to achieve these results by a very simple structure which can be easily put into practice, is reliable in use and efficient in operation and which is of relatively low cost.
These objects and advantages are achieved according to the invention by providing a rapid beater for liquids in a household mixer or the like, which is characterized in that the lower end of a central body for coupling to the drive shaft of the drive unit of the mixer is provided, e.g. formed integrally, with a wide, typically flat, circular blade means located on a plane that is slightly inclined relative to a plane extending perpendicularly of the central body, the rotation of said blade means being adapted to cause a rapid incorporation of a considerable amount of air in the liquid contained in the container of the mixer.
Further details of the invention will become more clear and evident from the following detailed description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of a rapid beater according to the invention shown by way of an illustrative but not limiting example in the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a side view of the beater according to the invention shown in section along a diametrical plane; and Figure 2 is a front view of a detail of the beater shown in section on a diametrical plane and on an enlarged scale.
Referring to Figure 1, a rapid beater for liquids in household mixers and the like according to the invention is generally indicated by the reference numeral 1. In the embodiment illustrated in the drawings, the beater 1 is intended to be mounted on a mixer of the type known under the commercial name of "Food Processor, in which a removable container 2 for the liquids to be treated has a bottom 3 provided with a central, upwardly extending hollow column 4 through which there projects a vertical drive shaft 5 of the mixer. However, it is also possible that the beater, by means of an attachment different from the one shown, can be used with different types of mixer, e.g. mixers in which the container has a hole formed by a liquid-tight low hollow column or has a closed bottom with a drive shaft depending from above or otherwise.
The beater 1 has a central body 6 provided, typically integrally formed, at its lower end, with a wide, typically flat, blade 7 which has a circular form, has a diameter slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the container 2, and is inclined at an angle between 2 and 3 degrees (in particular 2 and 45') relative to a plane extending perpendicularly of the axis of the body 6. These dimensions and inclination have proved to be best for speeds of rotation of the drive shaft between 1000 and 2500 RPM and for relatively large containers having an inside diameter of about 15 centimetres (in this manner perfect whipping of the whites of eggs can be obtained within about 30 seconds). However, for different speeds and dimensions of the container different inclinations may prove to be more efficient. As can be seen in Figure 1, the blade 7 suitably has a blunt edge.
The central body 6 is formed of a pair of coaxial tubes 8 and 9 which are upwardly connected to each other at 10. The outer one 8 of these tubes is loosely fitted on the column 4 of the container and downwardly has an enlargement 11 of its diameter and upwardly may be provided with a handle knob 12. The inner tube 9 is designed to be traversed from below by the drive shaft 5 and has an inner projection or tooth 13 with bevelled edges and converging downwardly for rotary coupling to a corresponding notch in the drive shaft 5.
It will be evident that the considerable dimensions of the blade are liable to cause vigorous stirring and beating of the liquid con tained in the container and to incorporate rapidly therein a considerable amount of air.
It will thus be seen that the invention is capable of achieving the recited objects and in particular that the products can be efficiently whipped within a very short time.
The thus conceived invention is liable to numerous modifications and variations within the scope of the same inventive concept. Further, all details of construction can be replaced by other technically equivalent details of construction.
In practice the materials used as well as the forms and dimensions may be any, depending on requirements, without departing from the scope of protection of the appended claims.
Although the blade 7 is preferably flat and smooth, the surfaces of the blade 7 may be irregular to assist in liquid aeration.
