Abstract
The table 11 has sides of equal length, six peripheral pockets 9, 13 located at corners of the table and one pocket 10 positioned in the centre of the table. Eighteen differently coloured and numbered balls together with a white un-numbered ball may be provided. Pockets designated 9 are a different colour from those designated 13 for scoring purposes. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Hexagonal shaped table ball game
This invention relates to a hexagonal shaped table ball game.
Table ball games are well known games which comprise a flat table mounted on legs with pockets situated at various positions on its surface and balls which are to be potted in these pockets using a cue.
The hexagonal shaped table ball game provides an interesting variation to other table ball games.
According to the present invention the table is hexagonal in shape, with all sides being equal in length. There are six cushions fixed to the inner faces of the table sides, which are used for ball deflection. There is a pocket positioned at each of the six corners and one pocket positioned in the centre of the table surface. There are nineteen balls used during play. A cue is used for potting these balls.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 shows in perspective the table in full plan view.
Referring to the drawing the game comprises a hexagonal shaped table 11 with all sides being equal in length.
There are six cushions 8 fixed to the inner faces of the table sides. These cushions are used for ball deflection.
There are three yellow coloured pockets 9 which are positioned on three of the corners, and there are three red coloured pockets 13 which are positioned on three of the corners. There is one pocket 10 positioned in the centre of the table surface.
There are seven red balls 1 numbered from one to seven, and there are seven yellow balls 2 numbered from one to seven. There is a brown ball 3 which is numbered eight, a blue ball 4 which is numbered ten, a pink ball 5 which is numbered twelve, a black ball 6 which is numbered fourteen and a white ball 7 which is not numbered.
Rules for the game
OBJECT - The player with the most points at the end of the game is the winner.
1. The brown, blue, pink, and black balls are not yet available for potting. Any contact between the cue ball and any of the aforementioned balls without it first making contact with a yellow or red ball constitutes a foul to the value of the ball touched.
2. Potting a yellow or red ball in the incorrect coloured pocket consitutes a foul to the value of the ball potted to a minimum of four points, the ball is then placed on the pack spot.
3. Potting a yellow or red ball in the centre pocket constitutes a foul to the value of the ball potted to a minimum of four points, the ball is then placed on the pack spot.
4. Player 1 places the cue ball in the semi-circle in baulk and breaks.
5. If no yellow or red ball is potted by the break player 2 proceeds to pot any yellow or red ball in its respective coloured pocket, and the ball remains out of play for the remainder of the game. He then scores the value of the ball potted.
6. If, for example, a red ball was potted, then player two now proceeds to pot a yellow ball in one of the yellow coloured pockets and continues potting yellow and red balls alternately.
7. If a player pots both a yellow and red ball in the respective coloured pockets with one stroke, scores for both balls are allowed and the balls remain out of play for the remainder of the game.
8. A player may at any time during his break pot the cue ball into the centre pocket only, by first making contact with the object ball. He then scores the value of the last object ball touched. The cue ball is then replaced in the semi-circle and the same player continues until he fails to pot a ball.
9. The players continue in this manner until all the yellow and red balls have been potted.
10. The brown, blue, pink and black balls are now available for potting in this order.
11. The four balls mentioned in rule ten may either by potted in the outer pockets or the centre pocket.
12. If any object ball mentioned in rule ten is potted in the centre pocket the player scores ball value and the ball is then replaced on its respective spot.
13. If any object ball mentioned in rule ten is potted in any of the outer pockets the player scores ball value and the ball remains out of play for the remainder of the game.
14. If any of the four balls mentioned in rule ten are potted in the incorrect order a foul to the value of the ball potted is recorded. The ball is then replaced on its respective spot.
15. Any contact between the cue ball and an incorrect ball without the cue ball first making contact with the object ball constitutes a foul to the value of the ball touched to a minimum of four points.
16. After any foul the player forfeits his right to continue the break.

2. A hexagonal shaped table ball game as claimed in claim 1, where all the sides of the table are of equal length.
3. A hexagonal shaped table ball game as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2, utilising different coloured numbered balls.
4. A hexagonal shaped table ball game as claimed in any preceding claim, utilising three yellow coloured pockets and three red coloured pockets.

Claims (5)
1. The brown, blue, pink, and black balls are not yet available for potting. Any contact between the cue ball and any of the aforementioned balls without it first making contact with a yellow or red ball constitutes a foul to the value of the ball touched.
2. Potting a yellow or red ball in the incorrect coloured pocket consitutes a foul to the value of the ball potted to a minimum of four points, the ball is then placed on the pack spot.
3. Potting a yellow or red ball in the centre pocket constitutes a foul to the value of the ball potted to a minimum of four points, the ball is then placed on the pack spot.
4. Player 1 places the cue ball in the semi-circle in baulk and breaks.
5. A hexagonal shaped table ball game substantially as described herein with reference to Figure 1 of the accompanying drawing.
5. If no yellow or red ball is potted by the break player 2 proceeds to pot any yellow or red ball in its respective coloured pocket, and the ball remains out of play for the remainder of the game. He then scores the value of the ball potted.
6. If, for example, a red ball was potted, then player two now proceeds to pot a yellow ball in one of the yellow coloured pockets and continues potting yellow and red balls alternately.
