Abstract

For dyeing acetate silk, an unsulphonated dye base of the triphenyl-methane, anthraquinone, or other series, is dissolved in an organic solvent, such as glycerine, epichlorhydrin, or ethylene chlorhydrin, and the solution diluted with water to obtain the base in a finely-divided state; its colloidal condition may be improved by adding glue, gelatine, Turkey-red oil, &c. In examples, Methyl violet 6 B base, China green base, or Alizarin geranol base, are dissolved in ethylenechlorhydrin, diluted with water, and glue or Turkey-red oil added, and the silk dyed at 50-60 DEG C.; in the second example formic acid is added at the end of the operation.ALSO:For dyeing acetate silk, an unsulphonated dye base of the triphenylmethane, anthraquinone, or other series, is dissolved in an organic solvent, such as glycerine, epichlorhydrin, or ethylene chlorhydrin, and the solution diluted with water to obtain the base in a finely-divided state; its colloidal condition may be improved by adding glue, gelatine, Turkey-red oil, &c. The silk is dyed in the solution so obtained; in some cases the dye base is converted into dye during the operation, in other cases an acid should be added. In examples, methyl violet 6B base, China green base, or Alizarin geranol base, are dissolved in ethylenechlorhydrin, diluted with water, and glue or Turkey-red oil added, and the silk dyed at 50-60 DEG C.; in the second example formic acid is added at the end of the operation.
