Obstruction-removers. - A buffer bar 1 extending across the front of the vehicle is characterized in that each of its supporting arms 2 is flexibly connected thereto and has freedom of movement in a housing 4 arranged upon the undercarriage 8 of the vehicle and ends freely in a wedge 3, with which it presses between leaf springs 5 with counteracting compression, these springs absorbing rearward and sideways thrust of the arm. The supporting arms 2 are connected to the buffer bar 1 by a ball and socket joint 9, 10, the socket 10 being in the form of a spring snap so that the buffer bar 1 may be disconnected from the supporting bar when a blow, indicated by the arrow Fig. 1, is received by the bar. In a modification, Fig. 4, the supporting arm is shaped from a leaf spring 11 and is resiliently held in a pocket 12 from which it may be separated in the same manner as the ball and socket 9, 10, Fig. 1. The free ends of the spring 11 may be detachably secured, by bolts or the like, to the buffer bar 1.
