Pulleys. - Clip pulleys such as are used with driving-belts or endless tracks for vehicles comprise a drum 4, keyed to the shaft 7, and a loose drum 5 interconnected by ball-ended links 11 so as automatically to tighten their grip on the belt 1 under increase of load. Relative movement of the drums 4, 5 creates obliquity of the links 11 and draws the drums together. Springs 16 or 17 restore the normal position when the load falls. The ball ends 10, 10<1> of the links mav engage key-hole slots in the drums, or one ball 10', Fig. 3, may be screwed adjustably upon the link and secured by a locknut 15.
