Abstract

A catalytic material for accelerating and improving combustion in internal-combustion engines comprises aluminium or cerium oxide and may be prepared by mixing the sulphate or nitrate with an inert substance such as powdered shale and water to form a paste, which is baked to form the oxide and to consolidate the mass. The material may be applied to the surface of a disc in the combustion chamber or to the inner surface of the combustion chamber near the sparking-plug.
