Abstract

The leading end of a web is introduced into a slitting and winding machine by a web-guide table (13). The web-guide table (13) can be raised and lowered and has a plurality of compressed air jets (14) directing air onto the web, optionally with a flow component in the conveying direction of the web. The table (13) includes a flat or curved end section (16) for guiding the web through a longitudinal cutting device (6) when the cutters are moved apart and to the support roller (2). <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Web-introduction apparatus on winding machines The invention relates to an apparatus for introducing the beginning of a web from below into a winding machine.
The introduction of the beginning of a web from below into a winding machine causes considerable difficulties on account of poor accessibility to the guide rollers which are generally below floor level. The longitudinal cutting device is also located in this region, whereof the cutters are separated solely by a slight clearance. Drawing the web past the cutters located at a smail distance apart causes additional difficulties.
When re-introducing a web, for example as a result of a change of format or tears in the web, a considerable amount of time is required for the introduction of the new beginning of the web. There is therefore a need for an apparatus simplifying the introduction of the beginning of a web from below into a winding machine.
It is the object of the invention to provide an apparatus whereof the construction is as simple as possible, which can be operated with low power requirements, can be located in a small space and is suitable for this application.
An apparatus with the features given in the claim is proposed for achieving this object.
The apparatus according to the invention fulfils the above mentioned requirements. It can be located in the existing relatively narrow space, can be operated in an energy-saving manner, because the existing compressed air can be utilized and can be manufactured economically on account of its simple construction. It can also be subsequently incorporated in existing winding machines.
The drawing is a diagrammatic side view of the web-introduction apparatus according to the invention.
The web 1 is supplied from below to the winding machine with the support roller 2 in the direction of arrow 3 by way of a guide roller 4, spreading roller 5, longitudinal cutting device 6 and spreading roller 7 and is supplied to the support roller 2 by means of an oscillating web feeder 8. The longitudinally divided webs are wound aiternately on the winding rolls 9,10.
When introducing the beginning of a web, the cutters 1 1,12 of the longitudinal cutting device 6 are drawn apart in order to facilitate puiling of the web 1 therethrough in its undivided state, in order that handling is facilitated.
The web-introduction apparatus according to the invention consists essentially of the web-introduction table 13, in which openings.
14 are provided, from which compressed air is blown towards the web 1 and/or with at least one component of the direction of flow in the direction of travel 3 of the web. For the introduction of the web 1 into the winding machine, the web-guide table 1 3 is moved from the inoperative position shown in dot dash lines by means of the drive 1 5 so far upwards into the position shown in full line until the plate-like end section 1 6 of the webguide table 1 3 is guided between the cutters 11,12 into a position close to the support roller 2.
At the time of introduction, the beginning of the web 1 is guided to the web-guide table 13, until it arrives in the range of action of the lower compressed air outlet openings 14.
Due to the flow of compressed air from the web-guide table 13, the beginning of the web is thus guided along the surface of the table into the gap between the spreading rollers 5,7 and the cutter 11 on the one hand and the end section 1 6 of the web-guide table 1 3 on the other hand. Located at the end of the end section 1 6 of the web-guide table 1 3 is a stationary compressed air nozzle 17, which introduces the beginning of the web 1 into the gap between the support roller 2 and the oscillating web feeder 8.
Appropriately the surface of the web-introduction table 1 3 is adapted to the conveying path of the web 1 and may thus an angular or curved shape.
After introducing the web 1 into the winding machine, the web-introduction apparatus is lowered by means of the drive 1 5 into the lower initial or inoperative position illustrated in dot dash lines. The cutters 1 1,12 of the longitudinal cutting device 6 are brought into the operating position. The winding operation for the longitudinally cut web can now be initiated.
1. Apparatus for introducing the beginning of a web from below into a winding machine, comprising a web-guide table extending in the conveying direction of the web and which can be raised and lowered and has a plurality of outlet openings for directing compressed air onto the web optionally with a flow component in the conveying direction of the web, said table including a plate-like end section for guiding the web through a longitudinal cutting device when the cutters are moved apart and to the support roller.
2. Apparatus for introducing the beginning of a web from below into a winding machine, substantially as herein described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
