Abstract
206,107. Dubilier, W. Oct. 25, 1922, [Convention date]. Condensers.-In a condenser comprising a number of layers of conducting and dielectric material formed into a roll, some of the conducting layers are left unconnected in order to minimize the danger of brush discharges. As shown, the condensercomprises terminal plates 3, 4 of relatively rigid material, and intermediate layers of metal foil interleaved with sheets of impregnated paper, the whole being wound on a dielectric core 1. Thaintermediate layers of foil are not connected with each other or with the terminal plates. The outer terminal plate 3 is surrounded by a layer- 5 of hard fibre, a split steel ring 6, and a spring steel band 7 which is adjustably clamped about the condenser roll by means of a bolt 8 and nut 10. A mounting bracket 11 may be welded to the band 7. The terminal plates 3, 4 preferably project beyond the body of the condenser for the purpose of dissipating heat.
