Abstract

This invention provides a roller pan mill comprising crushing rollers 4 rotatable about fixed axes for rolling on a grinding pan 3 rotatable about a vertical axis, which crushing rollers pressed by a triangular clamping frame 5. The clamping frame is guided and centred by tie rods or connecting rods 8, originating at each corner of the equilateral triangle formed by the clamping frame and secured rigidly against torsion and without play. The rods are articulated on the clamping frame and on the housing 1, of the mill to permit vertical movements of the clamping frame. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Roller pan mills This invention relates to roller pan mills.
Generally such mills have crushing rollers rotatable about fixed axes and which roll on a grinding pan rotatable about a vertical axis. The crushing rollers stand under the influence of a clamping frame arrange above them in order thus to be able to produce the necessay crushing pressure between the rollers and grinding pan. This clamping frame must be centred in its positioning which is usually done through so-called guideways, which are arranged between the corner regions of the clamping frame forming an equilateral triangle. In this play between clamping frame and mill housing in the region of the guideways must be taken into consideration. These guideways are in certain cases liable to a relatively strong abrasion, especially through the dust-filled atmosphere prevailing in the mill housing.
It has become known from the German Offenle gungsschrift 2732 lot80 instead of such guideways to obtain a guiding and centreing of the clamping frame such that its corner region is braced on both sides through tie rods and spring means on the mill housing, wherein the tie rods are articulated cardanically on the clamping frame. In this way the difficgilties which the guidways can bring are removed. Such an arrangement however tends very easily to vibrations, which can even lead through corresponding impulses to resonance. Accordingly the mill housing can be exposed in an unnecessary manner to higher stresses.
The object of this invention is to provide clamping frame bracing which avoids the disadvantages of the guideways as well as the inconvenieces of the indicated fixing by means of spring elements.
Accordingly this invention provides a roller pan mill with a clamping frame arranged above the crushing rollers acting on these centred in the mill housing such that for guiding and centreing of the frame there are provided tie rods, originating at each corner of the equilateral triangle formed by the clamping frame proceeding in similar direction, arranged rigid against torsion and without play, which rods are articulated on the one hand to the clamping frame and on the other hand to the housing, permitting vertical movements of the clamping frame.
Preferably the tie rods are arranged in the direction opposed to the direction of rotation of the rollers. Connecting rods can however also be provided in the direction of rotation of the rollers.
Centreing is also possible through the use of tie rods on the individually suspended rollers.
In a preferred embodiment these tie rods or connecting rods are equipped with an overload protection.
For making available the pressure necessary for the overload protection advantageously the hydraulic unit present for the application of crushing pressure, at least in the large mills, can be drawn out. It is however also possible to provide an individual unit for this.
The bracing of the clamping frame according to the inventon permits, without the action of dynamic quantities a transmission of the torque to the mill housing, since the speed of the crushing rollers in the direction of rotation is zero. The arrangements in substantially more resistant to abrasion than the known quideways. Thus the maintenance costs of the mill are substantially reduced. The risk of formation of vibration resonances, which could be transmitted to the mill housing, does not exist.
Furthermore through clamping frame bracing torsion shocks, which are produced through the acceleration and the very rapid re-braking of the rollers, are very much diminished.
This invention will now be further described by way of example only with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows in vertical section a roller pan mill, and Figure 2 is a cross-section along line ll-il of Figure 1 Crushing rollers 4 (usually three) revolve about axes, which are under the influences of a clamping frame 5, on a grinding pan 3 rotating about a vertical axis.
This clamping frame 5 serves for the transmission of the necessary crushing pressure to the crushing rollers 4, which can, for example, be developed through hydraulic cylinders 6 and transmitted through tie rods 7 to the clamping frame.
The clamping frame must also be centred and guided in some manner in housing 1. This is done, for example, through tie rods 8, which in the embodiment illustrated are swingably articulated, about a horizontal pivot 9, with clamping frame 5 forming an equilateral triangle, at each corner of this clamping frame 5 and on the other hand are also swingably articulated with the housing about a horizontal pivot 10. There results accordingly a centreing and guiding of the clamping frame, which can however without further trouble carry out the vertical movements exerted on it in the crushing process.
in the embodiment illustrated a hydraulic overload protection is provided in the form of hydraulic cylinders 11.

Generally such mills have crushing rollers rotatable about fixed axes and which roll on a grinding pan rotatable about a vertical axis. The crushing rollers stand under the influence of a clamping frame arrange above them in order thus to be able to produce the necessay crushing pressure between the rollers and grinding pan. This clamping frame must be centred in its positioning which is usually done through so-called guideways, which are arranged between the corner regions of the clamping frame forming an equilateral triangle. In this play between clamping frame and mill housing in the region of the guideways must be taken into consideration. These guideways are in certain cases liable to a relatively strong abrasion, especially through the dust-filled atmosphere prevailing in the mill housing. Preferably the tie rods are arranged in the direction opposed to the direction of rotation of the rollers. Connecting rods can however also be provided in the direction of rotation of the rollers. Centreing is also possible through the use of tie rods on the individually suspended rollers. In a preferred embodiment these tie rods or connecting rods are equipped with an overload protection. For making available the pressure necessary for the overload protection advantageously the hydraulic unit present for the application of crushing pressure, at least in the large mills, can be drawn out. It is however also possible to provide an individual unit for this. The bracing of the clamping frame according to the inventon permits, without the action of dynamic quantities a transmission of the torque to the mill housing, since the speed of the crushing rollers in the direction of rotation is zero. This clamping frame 5 serves for the transmission of the necessary crushing pressure to the crushing rollers 4, which can, for example, be developed through hydraulic cylinders 6 and transmitted through tie rods 7 to the clamping frame. The clamping frame must also be centred and guided in some manner in housing 1. This is done, for example, through tie rods 8, which in the embodiment illustrated are swingably articulated, about a horizontal pivot 9, with clamping frame 5 forming an equilateral triangle, at each corner of this clamping frame 5 and on the other hand are also swingably articulated with the housing about a horizontal pivot 10. There results accordingly a centreing and guiding of the clamping frame, which can however without further trouble carry out the vertical movements exerted on it in the crushing process. in the embodiment illustrated a hydraulic overload protection is provided in the form of hydraulic cylinders 11. CLAIMS
1. Roller pan mill comprising crushing rollers rotatable about fixed axes for rolling on a grinding pan rotatable about a vertical axis, and clamping frame for influencing the crushing rollers wherein for guiding and centreing the clamping frame there are provided means connecting the clamping frame to said mill housing said means being arranged rigid against torsion and without play, and being articulated on the one hand on the clamping frame and on the other hand on the housing so as to permit vertical movements of the clamping frame.
2. A roller pan mill as claimed in claim 1 wherein the connecting means comprises tie rods or connecting rods originating at each corner of the equilateral triangle formed by the clamping frame proceeding in the same direction.
3. Roller pan mill as claimed in claim 2, wherein the rods are arranged in the direction of rotation of the crushing rollers.
4. Roller pan mill as claimed in claim 2 or 3, wherein the tie rods or connecting rods are equipped with an overload protection.
5. Roller pan mill as claimed in claim 4, wherein a hydraulic unit present for the application of the crushing pressure is provided for making available the pressure required for the overload protection.
6. Roller pan mill substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
