Abstract

A solid fuel effect gas fire is provided with means including a valve whereby the supply of gas to the fire is varied automatically and in a cyclic manner between selected upper and lower values. The valve comprises input (3) and output (7) chambers with a plurality of openings (A, B, C, D, E) between them. All but one (A) of the openings are opened or closed in a desired sequence by electro-magnetically operable means to thereby adjust the flow of gas through the valve of the fire. <IMAGE>
