Abstract

A gas compressor (14) of the sliding-vane type is provided with a casing (16) which defines a reservoir (157) for compressed gas, a sump (16, 22) for lubricating oil, and a compressed-gas outlet passage (171) leading to an oil separation element (172) for removing oil from the compressed gas. A rotor/stator assembly (60, 75) is axially removable from a bore(s) within the casing (16) from a side of the casing opposite to a driving motor (12) (for servicing or inspection) without detaching the casing from a cooling section (13) and the driving motor (12). <IMAGE>
