Abstract

A method for the manufacture of a laminate, for instance a floor covering material, by applying a thermoplastic coating on one side of a substrate (pattern side), on which a pattern printed in design may be applied, followed by one or more thermoplastic layers, and applying a thermoplastic coating on the other side (reverse side), wherein after the application of a foamable or non-foamable coating, possibly printing in design of a pattern and application of a finishing coating, the pattern-side is pregelled and subsequently the reverse side coating is applied, after which the whole is conveyed through an oven with the pattern- side over driven, cooled support rolls with a non-adhering surface in such a manner that the surface speed of the support rolls and the conveying speed of the coated substrate are the same, in order to gel and possibly foam both coatings simultaneously.
