Abstract
Disclosed herein is a method of electrochemically coating nanoparticles, the method comprising (i) providing a working electrode, a counter electrode, and a liquid carrier medium in contact with the working electrode, the liquid carrier medium comprising: (a) the nanoparticles, wherein the nanoparticles comprise a first material; (b) ions of a metal dissolved in the liquid carrier medium; (ii) applying a potential between the working electrode and the counter electrode, such that, at the working electrode, the ions of the metal are reduced and there is a bulk deposition of the elemental metal onto the nanoparticles. Nanoparticles made in accordance with this method are also described. An apparatus for carrying out the method is also described.
