Abstract

A solid supported Ziegler catalyst component and is admixed with particulate silica as moderator of the catalyst activity, wherein the quantity of silica is 10-95 wt % of the mixture. Supported Ziegler catalyst component comprises a transition metal compound chemically reacted with a support having surface reactive groups, eg magnesium oxide, calcium phosphate, alumina, carbon black or silica.
