Abstract

An aqueous dispersion of spherules is disclosed consisting essentially of ordered molecular layers enclosing an aqueous phase containing at least one active substance, said layers consisting of at least one lipid having the general formula: X-Y in which Y represents a lipophilic group and X represents either a non-ionic hydrophilic group, in which case the diameter of the spherules is from 100 to 50,000 ANGSTROM , or an ionic hydrophilic group, in which case the diameter of the spherules is from 1,000 to 50,000 ANGSTROM , the lipid having a lipophilic/hydrophilic balance such that it swells in the aqueous phase thereby forming a lamellar phase, the composition containing at least two different said spherules, the spherules differing in the active substance present and/or in the lipid or mixture of lipids. The active substance may be pharmaceutical or cosmetic agents.
