Abstract

Crude flavanthrone is converted to a pigmentary form by vatting the crude flavanthrone and the leuco compound is oxidized in aqueous suspension either in the presence of surfactants in the absence of shearing forces, or whilst exposed to shearing forces in the presence or absence of surfactants. The pigments obtained gives deep greenish yellow transparent colorations and is readily dispersible in the media in which it is used.
