Abstract

A camera has a body and a lens adapted to be detachably mounted on the body. The body has a mounting portion 1 which receives a barrel of the lens in bayonet fashion, and a locking member 6 which is arranged to prevent operation of a shutter release member 12 and to open switch contacts 20, 21 of an exposure metering circuit when the lens is not mounted on the body. The locking member 6 is displaceable against the bias of a spring 8 to render the shutter release member and the metering circuit operative, and is arranged to be displaced by a protrusion 17d on the lens barrel when the lens is mounted on the body. In this way, inadvertent operation of the shutter release member and unwanted power consumption in the metering circuit are avoided while the lens is removed from the camera body. In Figure 2 (not shown) only the metering circuit is disabled. <IMAGE>
