Abstract

A simplified and economically constructed electrical solenoid or coil assembly that can be used in elevated temperature environments comprises a coil wound on a hollow bobbin (20) of thermoset plastics material received in a housing (12, 14) of similar material. The bobbin flange has a terminal attachment portion (25) carrying a pair of terminals (16, 18) encased in the housing and interlocked with retaining lugs (51, 52) thereon. A housing cover plate (14) prevents rotation of the coil and terminals in the housing body. The components so far described are retained in assembled condition by a surrounding pole frame (15) which has apertures provided in opposite sides. A pole piece (28) is attached in one of the apertures and extends into the bobbin at one end. The other end of the bobbin engages in the other aperture to locate the bobbin and housing with respect to the pole frame. <IMAGE>
