Abstract

A rotatable fluid-actuated piston and cylinder device for control of a self-centering chuck. A safety valve assembly (27) is received in an axial hollow in the piston rod (16). The valve assembly comprises valve closure members (28,29) arranged coaxially with the piston rod (16) and movable between closed and open positions parallel to the longitudinal axis of rotation of the piston rod, thereby eliminating the adverse effects of centrifugal force on the valve action. <IMAGE>
