Abstract
194,835. Beyer, O. S. Jan. 3, 1922. Stamping; cupping.- Mechanism for actuating the reciprocating die or blank-holder 16, Fig. 1, of a stamping press so as to provide a dwell at a given point in the motion, comprises a togglelinkage 82, 81 which is actuated through a link 75 and rocking levers 77, 62 by a universallyjointed connecting-rod 65 driven by a spur gear 25 mounted on the main shaft 22. The mechanism is duplicated so as to drive the member 16 at each end. The crankshaft 22 is driven uniformly at each end by a symmetrically-disposed spurgear train 40, 41, 41<1>, 43, 43<1>, Fig. 3, and actuates a punch slide 20 which may be arranged to operate either through the member 16 or through the bed 15. The connecting-rods 65 may be made of a heavy pattern so as partially to balance the weight of the punch slide.
