Abstract
192,993. Weir, Ltd., G. & J., and Lang, C. R. Oct. 12, 1922. Feed-water, supplying.-In a steam-condensing and feed-supply system of the kind described in Specifications 125,149, 126,014, 128,849, and 132,035, to prevent unnecessary pumping of the water in a circulation from the feed-tank through the automatic valve in the return conduit into the system and from the overflow valve out of the system, a float-operated overflow valve is used in conjunction with the float-operated automatic valve arranged in the return conduit, as described in Specification 132,035, both floats rising and falling with the water level in the condenser and the float operating the overflow valve being set at a higher level than the float operating the valve in the return conduit. The overflow valve a controlling the return of water from the feed-pipe v through the pipe o to the feed-tank is operated by a piston acted upon by the water pressure in a tube e connected to the feed-pipe. A valve g in the tube e is so operated by a float in a chamber q in communication with the condenser w that when the water-level in the condenser falls, the valve is opened, thus lowering the pressure in the tube e and allowing the spring f to close the overflow valve. The valve d in the return conduit 4 is operated by an auxiliary valve controlled by a float in a chamber z, as described in Specification 132.035. When the water-level in the condenser falls, the valve d is opened.
