Abstract
15,825. Torrens, J. A. Nov. 9. Dash-pots.-The movement of a suctionactuated air valve x is controlled by a dashpot comprising an annular groove 3 with a tongue-shaped extension z, the opening of which is controlled by the cam-shaped edge 7 of an adjustable disk 8, which covers the remaining portion of the groove. The disk moves over a scale and is locked by a nut y<5>. The pressure on the base of the valve is distributed uniformly by passages 4 leading from the groove 3. The dash-pot control may be fitted either to the valve or the casing. The valve is prevented from rotating, and the dashpot action is varied by a tapered or fluted pin 2.
