Optical-projection apparatus.-In apparatus for projecting simultaneously two or more kinematograph or other colour records, comprising one light source, a prismatic grid S' in, at, or near the condenser C to deflect light to one or more of the gates g, prisms p at one or more of the gates to redirect the deflected light, and separate projection lenses l, the grid S' is formed of separate glass or other strips arranged side by side in a carrier or mount. For two-colour projection, the strips a, Fig. 3, may have two faces a' on one side, one or both of which are inclined to deflect the light to the gates. Grids for three-colour projection may have similar strips spaced apart, and, according to the Provisional Specification, such strips may be mounted on a glass or like backing, or, alternatively, contiguous strips having three faces two of which are inclined may be used. The inclination or width of the faces may be unequal to divide the light unequally between the gates, and the faces may have a concave or convex cylindrical curvature. Movement in the direction of the line joining the centres of the gates may be imparted to the grid, and for this purpose the grid may be in the form of a disk having radial strips and an axis at the side of, or above or below, the axis of the condenser.
