Combinations of interdependent valves; actuating.-In a combined air and liquid valve for bottling-machines in which the air valve is adapted to open before and close after the liquid valve, the liquid valve k is carried upon the lower end of an air-vent pipe l while the air valve p is carried by a member n passing through the tube l and is adapted to seat against the liquid valve k. The vent pipe l is arranged within a fixed filling-tube d, on which is slidably arranged a spring-controlled sleeve e, and is controlled by a spring q acting in opposition to the spring i. The sleeve d is formed as a nipple b at its upper end and secured to the reservoir a by a nut c. When a bottle is forced against the collar f or pad g, the sleeve e is forced inwards, and the valve k under the action of its spring q follows the sleeve, thereby opening the air valve p. Further movement of the sleeve c brings a stop r on the pipe l against its bonnet or supporting - member s and opens the liquid valve k. Preferably. the rod o of the air valve p is formed with a longitudinal aperture t. The collar f screws on to the sleeve e, so that its position can be adjusted to permit of more or less of the sleeve protruding into the bottle when the liquid valve is opened. The air and liquid valves may be hemispherical in shape.
