R÷ntgen-ray and like apparatus.-A compressor for X-ray medical apparatus adapted to receive at its lower end a photographic plate or fluorescent screen comprises a tube A having at its end a fibre ring a and a slot B on one side and a sliding sleeve C, which normally covers the slot B and is provided with a slot D so that, when the sleeve is raised, the slot B is uncovered to draw out the screen or plate. The bottom of the tube has a plate c of aluminium to prevent bulging-up into the tube. A hollow ring f, carried by means of pins h attached to the sleeve C and sliding in vertical slots in the tube A, is adapted to take a carrier E for the plate or screen comprising a ring having a flange j and an aluminium bottom k. The top of the tube is provided with a flange F having fibre strips G adapted to take into grooves in guides m fixed to a holder plate H having extensions n and handles o. The plate has an opening p closed by a door q which has handles r and may be fitted with lead glass. The guides m are provided with slots s for the attachment of an adapter for a photographic plate or a cover. According to various modifications, the plate or screen may be drawn out of the tube, or the carrier for the photographic plate or the screen may be hinged so as to lie against the inside or outside of the tube, which is made tapering ; or the flange may be made wide enough for the plate to be folded back and to be protected by the flange. The screen may be placed at the top or bottom of the tube. The X-ray tube is positioned at the side of the patient opposite the compressor tube.
