Abstract
1950. Hoffay, J. Aug. 29, 1913. Tone-arm joints.-To allow the sound-box to play any type of cut record, a fitting is provided so that the sound-box may be placed parallel to or across the track, this fitting consisting of a block or member 12 pivoted at one side of the centre of the tone-arm passage, and preferably at a point 13 outside the walls thereof. Fig. 1 shows the position for use with a zigzag-cut record, in which the block 12 is swung into the outward position, and the continuity of the sound-passage is maintained by an elbow or like piece 20, which is thrown back as shown in Fig. 4 when the machine is used for hill- and-dale records. The Provisional Specification describes also a modification comprising a fixed block having frontal and lateral holes, the one not in use being covered.
