Abstract

16,563. Allgemeine Elektricitats Ges. July 29,1912, [Convention date]. Ink-ribbon mechanism. - In adjustable-throw vibrator mechanism, the vibrator is driven by a lever 2, suspended at 3 on the oscillating frame 1 of the universal bar and controlled by an adjusting-device 10 mounted on the fixed framework, the arrangement decreasing the inertia of the universal bar as compared with arrangements in which the adjusting-device is moved by the universal bar. The lever 2 is connected by a link 19 to a bell-crank lever 26 which carries the vibrator 28. The lever 2 is formed with enlargements 7, 8 adapted to engage the slotted end 9 of the lever 10 carried by a rock-shaft 13 which is journaled in the framework 11 and is provided with an adjusting-lover 14. The throw of the vibrator can be increased by altering the fulcrum of the lever 2 from the point 8 to the point 7, this being effected by raising the lever 10 to bring the slot 9 into engagement with the enlargement 7. By setting the lever 10 between the enlargements 7, 8, the lever 2 is caused to move idly and the vibrator is silenced for stencilling. The enlargements 7, 8 may be replaced by rollers or pins or by a slot which engages a pin or roller on the lever 10 and is formed with an enlargement at the middle for the stencil-adjustment. The lever 10 is formed with an extension provided with recesses 16, 17, 18 adapted to engage a locking-pin 15 on the framework. The bell-crank lever 26 is pivoted at 25 to the platen shaft frame 24, which is pivoted at 30 to the framework. When the platen is shifted, the bell-crank lever is moved almost parallel to itself and the vibrator is lifted through the same distance as the platen. The pivots consist of pins instead of the usual bolts and nuts, and to facilitate assembling, the parts 2, 19, 16 are pivoted together before they are inserted in the machine.
