Abstract
3715. Thompson, W. P., [Seemann, H.]. Feb. 13. Optical-projection apparatus; lens mounts.- A projecting - lantern 1 is provided at the back with slide ways 2, to which are secured the four posts 3 having spacing-sleeves 4, 5, 6, 7 for adjustably carrying the lenses 11, 12. The transparencies or films 22 are held in a holder as shown in Fig. 4, which is carried by a slide frame 17 strengthened bv cross-bars 18. The frame is made of considerable length, and lugs 19 are formed on each side in alternate relation which are engaged by projections 16 carried by a swivel plate 42 pivoted at 43 to the bottom of the lantern. This plate has arms 44, 45 adapted to be engaged alternately by a pin 49' on the worm-wheel 48 so that, as this wheel rotates, the projections 16 are alternately withdrawn and the slide allowed to fall, the transparencies are thereby successively brought into the correct position for projection. A lug on the top of the slide frame prevents any further movement after the last picture has been shown, and the end of the frame screens off the light. In a modified arrangement, a separate slide frame is dispensed with, the film holder having lugs 19. The worm 50 is driven from a talking-machine through a variable friction drive 30, 31.
