Feeding - devices for granular and like materials.-Malt from a mill a is fed into the grist case b by a rotating spout p, which delivers the material around the sides, whereby the husks and coarse grits roll to the centre and form a column h surrounded by the small grits and flour. On discharging the grist into the mash-tun f, the central column h passes down first and the husks and coarse grits form a lower layer in the tun and are covered by the fine grits and flour. The spout is rotated by a pulley q and band, and may discharge on to a stationary or shaking cone supported in the grist case.
