[Cognate Applications, 25,154/12 and 7123/13.] Sights.-Consists in mounting a long tubular back sight, or a bar carrying two or more apertured plates, in such a way that, whatever its position of adjustment, its axial line passes through the fore sight. In the construction shown in Fig. 14, the tube 15 is carried by a slide mounted on an arcuate leaf 88. In the modification shown in Fig. 22, depending lugs 127, 128 at the front and back of the sighttube 15 slide on inclined guides 129, 130. In the form shown in Fig. 19, the sight-tube 15 is, carried by two pairs of pivoted links 107, 108, kept parallel by the cross-link 112. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the tube 15 is carried by an arcuate arm 39 which is mounted on the arcuate upright 1 fixed to the side of the breech-body. The arm can be turned so that it is either horizontal, or, as shown in Fig. 1, vertical. When it is horizontal, the tube is used with the ordinary foresight and the tube can be adjusted on the arm 39 for windage. When the arm 39 is upright, the tube is used with the long-distance bead sight, adjustment being obtained by turning the upright 1 about its hinge-pin 9. The tube 15 must then be moved with respect to the arm 39 to bring it into line with the foresight.. The sight-tube may have a parallel boring 70, Fig. 9, or it may be restricted at the ends 66, 67 as shown in Fig. 8. The tube may be telescopic as shown in Fig. 10. In place of ' a tube, a bar 136, Fig. 23, carrying two sighting- apertures, may be used.
