Abstract

18,026. Baron, A. B. Aug. 4, 1911, [Convention date]. Surveying, aeronautical, panoramic, and bird's-eye-view photography and apparatus.-In photographing from an aeroplane or the like machine the camera is pointed vertically downwards, and the film e, Figs. 3 and 4, is drawn from the spool f across the narrow exposure aperture j by a sprocket-wheel k, which perforates the edges of the film under the pressure of the roller l. The sprocket-wheel is driven through gearing r, r<1> from the clockwork motor p, which also drives the take-up spool n through flexible gearing q, q<2>. A spring brake g also controls the feed of the film. The film may alternatively be driven by a wind motor which can be coupled with the wheels n, k, or alternatively again by hand. The apparatus is suspended by a universal joint beneath the aeroplane, and a wind-screen is used to prevent oscillation. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) comprises also apparatus for obtaining circular panoramic views from a stationary elevation. In one apparatus more particularly for use on a captive balloon or the like, the camera a, b, Fig. 7 (Cancelled), is suspended on the support x by a counterweighted arm y, y<1>, and the circular rotation of the camera is obtained by the additional wheel w driven by the camera clockwork p and in gear with the stationary wheel w<1> on the support x. In another apparatus for obtaining horizontal views of the whole horizon, the camera a, b, Fig. 9 (Cancelled), is mounted on the vertical support 4 of a tripod head and is revolved by hand gearing 10, 9, 8. The camera carries an antifriction wheel 7 running on a circular rail 6. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
