9231. Kendal, A. B. June 28. Jet-wheels; reversing; driving and transmission mechanism, special applications of.-Jetwheels A, C provided with spur-wheel teeth mesh with a wheel B on the driving-shaft D, and are surrounded by inner and outer annular channels G, J communicating with sets of oppositelyinclined nozzles P, Q. Liquid or other motive fluid is supplied by a pipe L to a reversing valve M, which directs it either to the channels G by way of a pipe 0, or to the channels J by way of pipes N. The liquid exhausts through a pipe R. A large clearance space is left between the sides of the wheels and the casing covers E, Fig. 2. One jet-wheel only may be used, or any number with varying diameters.
