Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-Relates to automatic pistols of the kind in which the breech-block can be disconnected from its return spring, for hand-loading prior to the first discharge, and consists in improved means for connecting and disconnecting the return spring. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the recoil-spring guide-rod 5, 7, which carries the forward spring-abutment 4, is detachably secured to the breech-block 1 by a laterally-sliding spring latch 12. In the modification shown in Pigs. 8 and 9, the guide-rod 5 is fixed to the breech-block 1, and the rear spring-abutment 18 is detachably secured to the frame by a laterally-sliding latch 25. When the abutment is disconnected from the frame, the breechblock, recoil spring, and abutment can he retracted together without compressing the spring.
