Whistles.-In metallic mouth whistles of the type shown in Fig. 9, the cylindrical body part a and integral mouthpiece b are made from a circular disk of sheet metal, which is first formed into a cup and next into a closedended tube, Fig. 3. The fore end is contracted by inserting a mandrel f having a reduced end and drawing through a die. The base c is first sunk and next cut out by a punch, forming a lip d. The mouthpiece b is then creaserolled or spun to the form shown in Fig. 9.
