Abstract
19,116. Lake, W. E., [Weston Electrical Instrument Co.]. April 11. Coil windings. - Crossed coils for use in measuring-instruments have their windings interlaced, as shown in Fig. 2, in order to ensure symmetry and stiffness. Two or more coils 7, 8 may be set at any angle, the layers, which may be single or multiple, being wound upon a former provided with means for holding separate bobbins from each of which the wire is taken in turn. The former may consist of fusible alloy, or a special former composed of removable sections may be used. Four pieces a of the form shown in Fig. 7 are connected to others shown in Fig. 8, by pins l and screws h and assembled as shown in Fig. 6 to form a cube with circular grooves of rectangular section. Pins p are provided to preserve gaps for the staff 9 on which the coils are afterwards mounted. Bobbin - holders (not shown), are mounted on two of the corner-pieces. Cement is applied to the coils during winding or by immersion when completed, and set by baking.
