Abstract
30,171. Chase, H. M., and Gouverneur, M. F. H. Jan. 4, [Convention date]. Levers; levers, locking. - The hand-lever 1 of the controlling-apparatus of an aeroplane or other machine is mounted on a ball-joint and can be inclined in all directions and also rotated about its own axis. The lever 1 passes through a slot in a ball 5, which is mounted in a casing 3 fixed to the frame of the machine. Collars 11 prevent endlong motion of the lever 1 through the ball 5. On the lever is mounted a spider 6 connected by cords or links 7, 8 to the members to be actuated. The end of the lever is connected by a telescopic rod 12 and universal joints to a drum 9, around which passes a cord 10 for operating the third control member. The ball can be clamped in any position in its casing 3 by a screw 18, Fig. 4, operated by a lever 19 pivoted on the hand-lever 1. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) states also that the hand-lever may be mounted to swing in one plane only; this subject - matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
