Abstract

Bottling.- Relates to rotary counter-pressure bottling - machines in which a diaphragm is employed to control the liquor - delivery valve, such diaphragm being moved to open the valve by the pressure of the gas in the bottle. According to the present invention, the diaphragm is moved in the opposite direction, to close the valve, by a cam acting before the pressure is reduced. The liquor-valve D is connected to the diaphragm h by a bent arm d passing outside the diaphragm chamber H. Above the diaphragm, and acting upon the upper end of the bent arm, is a buffer spring m enclosed in a box M adapted to engage a fixed cam M<1>. If counter - pressure fails on account of a defective bottle, or a bottle being omitted the valve closes automatically, but in the ordinary operation of the machine, the diaphragm is depressed, and the valve D closed by the cam M'. Counter-pressure is admitted to the bottle by a passage b when a valve C is opened by a lever c on the filling- head engaging a stationary cam C<1> within the tank. Within the valve C is a check valve c<1> for the return of air during filling to the tank. The passage b communicates by a by-pass h<1> with the chamber H. When the filling is completed, the neck of the bottle is snifted through a passage g by a valve G operated by a fixed cam G'.
