Abstract

1206. Elektriska Aktiebolaget A. E. G. Jan. 18, 1909, [Convention date]. Tell - tale apparatus for repeating rotary movements. Relates to direct - current motor control systems for submarine mines, and consists in means for indicating at the control station the motion of a motor at the mine. Figs. 1 and 2 show the apparatus at the mine and at the control station respectively. A transformer 9, Fig. 1, has one winding 8 connected to slip-rings 2, 3 on the motor 1, which raises and lowers the mine, and the other winding is connected on the one side to "earth" through a switch 32 mounted to rotate with the motor, and on the other side to the control station through a condenser 11 and a wire 12, which also connects the motor 1 to the control station. At the control station, the wire 12 is connected to a combined transformer and directcurrent relay 35, which controls a switch 55 for a bell 53, and an alternating-current relay and switch 46, 43 for an indicator 48, 49, 51. When the motor rotates, an alternating-current is transmitted intermittently from the slip-rings to the relay 46, the indicator 51 controlled thereby moving step by step synchronously with the motor. When the motor stops, the switch 55 closes, and the bell 53 rings until the controlling-switch 37 is brought to the normal position shown, in which a resistance 38 reduces the current so as to render it ineffective so far as this action is concerned.
