The lower part B is in the form of a paraboloid, which reflects most of the light upwards to the part A. The surface of the lower part B may be covered with prisms or with rings of polished metal. A cup-shaped projection G permits the paraboloidal part B to be close to the source of light. The upper casing A rests on a ring D supported by arms R, and the lower casing B is supported by a flanged ring F, the rings D, F being assembled by means of bayonet joints.
