Balancing moving parts. - In a balancing- device for steam or gas turbines &c., in which end thrusts are balanced by a piston secured to the shaft, the annular channel by which the pressure fluid has access to the space e in front of the piston a is provided with one or more pairs of rings b, c forming conical or cylindrical throttling-spaces d, the dimensions of which alter according to the position of the shaft. The flow of fluid through the spaces d is consequently more or less restricted, and the pressure in the space e adjusts itself automatically to the end thrust on the shaft. The rings b, c are fixed to the shaft and to the casing; they may he arranged behind the piston a, or partly in front of and partly behind the piston. The spaces d may be of different diameters.
