Abstract
9307. Regordosa, J., and Regordosa, L. April 20. Hank type.-In a machine for dyeing skeins, wherein these are carried on frames fixed to endless parallel chains, cords, or belts, the row of skeins is agitated as it enters the bath, at a point near the surface thereof. The circulating and agitating apparatus referred to is carried by a framework F, mounted on wheels p, which run on rails r, so that the whole can be run from over one vat f to over any other f<1>, the frame h, which carries the immersing-rollers d, d<1>, d<2>, being raised clear of the vat walls; weighted rollers u, on the same axis u<1>, which moves in a vertical slot v, rest on the top part of the chains c, allowing them to yield to the oscillations imparted to the chains, and taking up the slack caused by raising the frame h. Several means of producing the agitation of the supporting - belts c, carrying the skeins a on frames b held by carriers e, are described, as follows. (1) To-and-fro movement perpendicular to the plane of the chains c. A roller z, with larger end-disks z' opposite the chains e, is hung by arms g<2> on a shaft g<1> outside the chains c, in conjunction or not with a second roller x slung on arms x<2> behind the chains c. The second pair of arms x<2> are connected by rods x<1> to the first pair g<2>, and the shaft g<1> is oscillated by a rotating disk k through an eccentric pin, an arm kl, and a lever. (2) Horizontal to- and-fro movement perpendicular to the direction of the last movement. The reciprocal motion from the disk k is passed through a bellcrank lever to a horizontal and longitudinally movable rod provided with forks which embrace the chains c. (3) Semicircular movement. The rollers z, x are replaced by bars 7, 4, Fig. 5, of which one carries a roller 8 opposite one chain c, and the other a roller opposite the other chain c. The carrying-arms 3, 6 are connected by a rod 2 pivoted so that, when one roller 8 pushes the corresponding chain c in one direction, the other roller pushes the other chain in the opposite direction. An alternative method of obtaining a semicircular movement is described. As the skeins leave the liquid, they pass between draining-rollers i and loose circular brushes j, which oscillate longitudinally and oppositely under the action of the rotating disk k, acting through a rod l and a double bellcrank lever. One of the lower immersing-rollers d also receives a longitudinal oscillation from the shaft of one of the brushes j through a suitably fulcrumed lever.
