Abstract

13,128. Neubronner, J. June 20, 1907, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907]. Surveying-instruments, photographic. - To take photographs of landscapes from above, a camera is attached to a carrier-pigeon, a time-controlled shutter effecting exposure when the bird is over the required part. The frame a, preferably of aluminium, is adapted to the shape of the bird, and is attached to it by crossed leather bands b, b, cleats c, c being provided for the attachment of the camera which is secured by a spring d. Two photos are taken successively by the passage of a slit band g between inclined lenses f, f and the film. A rubber bag r is inflated from a ball attached to a tube t, and the nose of a pivoted latch p in contact with the bag is put in engagement with a block m so as to hold the blind g wound up on its shaft k against the tension of a spring h. The tube t is closed by bending it round arms u, w, and the air escapes from the bag r by a side tube v in which is inverted a glass tube having a small aperture, the bag being compressed by a spring s. The instant of exposure can be varied by placing the nose of the latch p at different graduations on the notch of the block m; on release the block m is pressed by a spring n to the end of the guide slot o, so as to be out of the way as the shaft k rotates.
